Visakhapatnam: Sify Infinit Spaces Limited, a subsidiary of Nasdaq-listed Sify Technologies, has launched a ₹1,500 crore project to build a state-of-the-art 50MW AI-powered Edge Data Center and Open Cable Landing Station.

The foundation stone was laid by Nara Lokesh, Minister for IT, Electronics and Communications, Real Time Governance and Human Resources Development, Government of Andhra Pradesh.

The facility, spanning 3.6 acres allocated by the state government, will be interconnected via the OPGW substation and linked by at least two fiber networks.

The development will employ over 1,000 individuals during construction and operational stages, with a strong emphasis on local talent and technical expertise.

Strategic Digital Gateway for Southeast Asia Connectivity

The new Open Cable Landing Station will play a pivotal role in bolstering India’s undersea cable connectivity and supporting scalable AI computing at the edge. By processing data closer to users, the facility will deliver ultra-low latency performance and seamless connectivity across India and Southeast Asia – including Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and Thailand.

Nara Lokesh highlighted that “Visakhapatnam is fast emerging as India’s global digital gateway on the eastern seaboard. Sify’s advanced infrastructure will enhance Andhra Pradesh’s global technology presence while creating opportunities in innovation, employment, and investment.”
